Michael Symes

Michael Symes is a garden historian particularly interested in gardens of the eighteenth century in Britain and on the continent. He established the MA Garden History at Birkbeck, University of London, in 2000 and has taught for many years. Apart from four books for Shire he has published many specialist articles and a number of books including most recently Mr Hamilton's Elysium: The Gardens of Painshill.
