After working in a bookshop for several years I knew to reach for the Shire catalouge whenever a customer began a sentence with the dreaded words 'I doubt that anything has been published on this but...' Little did I know that a few years later I would be working for them! I joined Shire in August 2009 and one of my jobs is to manage the journal. If you have any ideas or suggestions for future journal articles then please email me.

If I inherited a fortune I would love to travel round the world by hot air balloon, build a library (and populate it with all the books I want to read) and spend more time watching England lose at cricket. Although having to only choose one book to be stuck in a lift with strikes me as a monstrously unfair question I have a particular soft spot for Cameras in Disguise so it would have to be that.

Scalextric and childhood jealousy

When I was growing up there was one particular friend whose house I was desperate to be invited to after school. The reason was not because I liked him better then any of my other friends, but that he indisputably had the best scalextric track set-up of anyone in my school.
